With the acquisition of Remont pruga Matić d.o.o., a company specialising in the construction and maintenance of railway infrastructure, the Kufner Group has expanded its business to include the railway infrastructure sector. This acquisition has positioned the Kufner Group strategically in the expectation of the upcoming cycle of major investment in the construction of railway infrastructure in Croatia, estimated at over EUR 6 billion between 2025 and 2035.
About the company
Remont pruga Matić d.o.o. (RPM) was founded in 2019 as a company specialising in the construction and maintenance of railway infrastructure. It provides construction and maintenance services for the rail road superstructure, including national railways, industrial tracks and tram lines.
RPM offers services such as rail and sleeper assembly, aluminothermic welding, ultrasonic weld testing, crushed stone installation, and other specialised activities necessary for a safe and efficient railway infrastructure.
Work on other segments of railway infrastructure, including platform, railway and road crossing construction, cable ducting and drainage, is also carried out.
RPM currently employs almost 100 workers, engineers and experts with extensive experience on the biggest railway projects. It possesses all the necessary equipment, including a heavy motorised trolley (TMD), a locomotive, double-track excavators, portal cranes, and other specialised machinery necessary for the construction and maintenance of the entire railway infrastructure.
The Kufner Group, holding 80% in RPM, took over the company in March 2023 with the aim of strategically expanding business. Its portfolio expansion to construction and maintenance services for the railway infrastructure, which is also an important user of stone aggregates, will provide the Kufner Group with additional synergies through vertical business integration, joint market presence as well sales of its mineral resources and installation of stone materials as part of railway infrastructure projects. This strategic move creates the prerequisites for further stable growth and additional competitive edge in the sectors that are crucial for the development of Croatia, as well as the wider region.
